Whether you opt for a trolley or a travel bag depends on the nature of your trip. If you can't check in your luggage and always have it with you, a trolley is the right choice. Unlike a travel bag, you don't need to carry a trolley and can easily push it alongside you. A soft luggage trolley (or a travel bag on wheels) is more flexible and is easier to stow away on the train, for example. A hard shell offers more protection for the contents, thus ensuring that clothes are largely crease-free and that souvenirs arrive in one piece. For air travel, you should choose a hard-shell trolley. A travel bag, on the other hand, is ideal if you are traveling by car.

Which size is the right

one?

As every brand calculates the volume of luggage slightly differently, there are no standardized suitcase sizes. We distinguish between 5 sizes, S, M, L, XL and XXL. To determine the right size, the way you are traveling is crucial. Traveling by train is subject to different requirements than traveling by plane, where strict rules apply to hand luggage.

Size S - lightweight hand luggage for short trips

Size S luggage is usually cabin-compatible, so can be taken on board an airplane free of charge and is sufficient for a long weekend or a short trip.

Size M-the medium size for trips of up to one week

You could be forgiven for thinking that M-size luggage is a bit of a half measure, because it's too big for the airplane cabin but too small for a summer vacation. However, this size is perfect for trips of up to 7 days.

Height: approx. 56-69 cm
For trips lasting up to approx. one week

Size L - the classic for summer vacations

This is the most common size, it is suitable for the classic summer vacation and still leaves room for souvenirs.

Volume: 70-89 ltr
Height: approx. 66-79 cm
For a vacation of one to two weeks

Size XL-the extra-large size for long long-distance travel

This size is ideal for trips of three to four weeks. But when traveling by plane, make sure that the maximum belt size of 158 cm (length + width + height) is not exceeded.

Height: approx. 80-120 cm
For trips of three to four weeks

Size XXL-the right size for emigration

This size is already referred to as a wardrobe suitcase. Luggage in size XXL is difficult to transport by yourself and is only worthwhile for vacations of four or five weeks or more.
