The story of CabinZero could not begin in a more classic way, because it is the story of the desire for improvement in a well-established industry. So what could be more natural than taking happiness into your own hands? This is the story of CabinZero, told by CEO Chief Travel Advisor Neil:

"Like all good ideas, this one came to me while traveling. In fact, over a series of incredible trips, broken bags, a brief stint in the tourism industry and a whole lot of indignation over carry-on luggage restrictions."

The story of CabinZero

India 1993: The world is in recession, decent jobs are hard to come by. So I strapped a huge bag on my back, grabbed my passport and off I went. The trip was amazing and life-changing, but the bag, to be honest, was not.

Just six months later, I was back on the road, but I had swapped the useless bag for a large, rigid-framed duffel bag. Again, my great love of travel remained intact - but the duffel bag did not. I spent the next year struggling with leaky suitcases, broken straps, and massively oversized backpacks, wondering over and over why no one had found a workable solution. Why was I letting my luggage dictate my travel - shouldn't it be the other way around?

A solution is needed - and an idea is born

It took Neil three trips in total before he finally got rid of his checked luggage and only checked hand luggage - and to this day he doesn't regret it one bit. Of course, compromises had to be made, but it was worth it. He soon realized one thing: smaller = better.

With rulers and folding rulers...

Perhaps the most depressing moment in travel history: the day airlines set carry-on baggage restrictions. Paying just to check in your baggage? Experimenting with rulers and tape measures, and then comparing different airlines' carry-on baggage rules? Without Neil.

The need for a practical, reliable companion in hand luggage dimensions was greater than ever before. The idea was born - a light, robust backpack with zippers that actually close and is durable enough to easily withstand the rigors of travel.

However, there was a problem: in the whole of Great Britain and Asia there was not a single piece of hand luggage that was adventure-proof enough to meet the high standards. So there was only one option: make it yourself!
