Boss - Elegant design since 1924

BOSS was founded in 1924 by Hugo Ferdinand Boss (1885-1948) and began its unprecedented success story with workwear in Metzingen. When Hugo Ferdinand Boss died shortly after the end of the war in 1948, his son-in-law Eugen Holy took over the management of the company and BOSS began making men's suits.

Uwe and Jochen Holy, Eugen Holy's sons, took over the company in 1967 and shortly afterwards (1975) hired the Austrian designer Werner Baldessarini, who later became head designer. The Boss factory outlet in Metzingen, which was later to become Outletcity Metzingen, began back in the 1970s. On December 19, 1985, almost 60 years after it was founded by Hugo Ferdinand Boss, the company went public with preference shares.

From workwear to an international fashion group

In less than 100 years, BOSS has matured from a small family business to a multi-billion dollar corporation and, since November 2016, has maintained the main collection, as well as the Hugo brands (both for men and women) and the children's collections.
