Trolley or travel bag?

Whether you choose a trolley or a travel bag depends on the type of trip you are taking. If you cannot check your luggage in and therefore always carry it with you, a trolley is a good option. Unlike a travel bag, you do not need to carry a trolley and can easily push it along beside you. A soft luggage trolley (or a travel bag on wheels) is more flexible and is easier to stow on the train, for example. A hard shell offers the contents more protection, so it ensures that clothes are largely crease-free and that souvenirs arrive in one piece. For air travel, you should choose a hard shell trolley. A travel bag, on the other hand, is good if you are traveling by car.

Which size is the right one?

Since each brand calculates the volume of luggage slightly differently, there are no standardized suitcase sizes. We distinguish between 5 sizes: S, M, L, XL and XXL. The way you travel is crucial to determining the right size. Traveling by train is subject to different requirements than traveling by plane, where strict rules apply to hand luggage.

Size S-light hand luggage for short trips

Size S luggage is usually suitable for cabin travel, meaning it can be taken on board an aircraft free of charge and is sufficient for a long weekend or a short trip.

Size M-the medium size for trips up to one week

You might think that size M luggage is somehow neither one thing nor the other, because it is too big for the airplane cabin but too small for a summer vacation. However, this size is perfect for trips of up to 7 days.

Size L-the classic for summer holidays

This is the most common size, it is suitable for the classic summer holiday and still leaves room for souvenirs.

Size XL-the extra large for long-distance travel

This size is recommended for trips lasting three to four weeks. However, when travelling by plane, make sure that the maximum girth measurement of 158cm (length + width + height) is not exceeded.

Size XXL-the right one for emigrating
